Khani Khola (Dolakaha) hydropower Project (30 MW)
Type of Project: Run-of- the-river type
The Khani Khola Hydropower Project, situated in Dolakha District of Bagmati Province, Nepal, is a 30 MW run-of-river (RoR) scheme being developed by Sasha Engineering Hydropower Limited (SEHPL). The company, founded in 2007, focuses on developing sustainable hydropower initiatives in Nepal. The project exploits the flow of the Khani Khola River, utilizing a gross head of 621.9 meters and a design flow of approximately 6.0 cubic meters per second, to deliver an installed capacity of 30 MW. The plant is projected to produce an annual energy output of around 170 GWh, supplying power to the national grid under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). Major civil structures include a diversion weir, intake, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, penstock, and powerhouse, designed for high-head operation in the steep Himalayan topography.
